Individual and Small Group Therapy

Individual Therapy Sessions

Individual sessions with you and your child are provided on a weekly basis and may occur one to five times a week. Taking into consideration your child’s sensory needs, a variety of activities will be used to address:

gross and fine motor coordination
motor planning (ideation, problem solving and execution)
foundational executive functioning skills
social and emotional development
arousal management from sensory avoiding to sensory seeking

Learning “how we feel, why, and what we can do about it,” is an awareness strategy that is taught and emphasized throughout all activities. By attending the sessions with the child, parents and the child learn how to figure out what sensory input is "organizing" and what input is "disorganizing." First-hand experience with “heat of the moment” responses during the sessions enables parents to better understand and address challenging responses at home.

Small Group Therapy Sessions

A group setting inherently involves a higher level of sensory processing and more complex social and emotional skill development. Our small groups are formed throughout the year when more than one child specifically needs support in an area shared by other children. Scheduling is dependent on the availability of the participants and therapists. Be sure and let us know if this focused support is an area of need for your child so we can determine if a group can be formed.

Small groups often organically form after our larger Sensory-Social Intensive in June. Consider making our summer program a priority for refining social-emotional skills needed for lasting relationships.

Parent and Teacher Support

When a parent is able to do at home what is being worked on during the therapy session, the child feels better understood and supported as he or she practices new physical skills and emotional responses to negative feelings or arousal challenges.

Parent conferences are encouraged and offered to:

support the parent as they learn sensory-based strategies for supporting their child,
address challenges at home around eating, sleeping, chores and other routine activities of daily living, independent play, competitive play, sibling relationships, etc.
discuss concerns, challenges and strategies on a more complex level away from the child and without taking away from the child’s session.

Teachers are invited to join in as we explore ways to support the child in the school setting. Teleconferencing for parents, teachers and other professionals of children not directly being seen is offered upon request, pending availability.

Financial Details

Individual Therapy:

$500 for initial 50 min evaluation with written summary
$225 for 90 min parent consultation to review findings
$150 per 50 min therapy hour

Small Group Therapy: Charges are based on the number of participating children and therapists.

2 children with 1 therapist - $150/ child/ 75 min session
2 children with 2 therapists - $150/ child/ 50 min session
3 to 4 children with 2 therapists - $150/ child/ 75 min session
5 to 6 children with 2 therapists - $150/ child/ 90 min session

Parent Conferences: $150 per hour. There is no charge for consultations to support the teacher of a child being seen.
