Christy is a pediatric Occupational Therapist who has specialized in Sensory Integration (SI) for over 30 years. After earning a B.S. from the Medical College of Georgia in 1981, Christy worked in both pediatric and adult rehabilitation before dedicating her practice to pediatrics. In 1988, Christy enrolled in the Cincinnati Occupational Therapy Institute for a concentrated program of study in SI evaluation and treatment and completed her Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) certification. Since then, Christy has worked primarily with children ages three to nine years old who have a Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), but has also worked with infants, toddlers, adolescents and adults.
She has continued to broaden her professional knowledge by studying and incorporating supplemental approaches to the treatment of SI, such as nutrition, cranial sacral therapy, vision therapy and sound therapy. Specialized training in sound therapy has included SAMONAS, Therapeutic Listening, and The Listening Program (TLP). The more she learns, the more committed she becomes to supporting her clients holistically in order to see them reach their potential.
Christy has been in private practice in Decatur, GA for nearly her entire career. She has raised awareness about the SI component of pediatric occupational therapy in the Atlanta area by sponsoring conferences featuring world-renowned speakers.
