Christy is a pediatric Occupational Therapist who has specialized in Sensory Integration (SI) for over 30 years. After earning a B.S. from the Medical College of Georgia in 1981, Christy worked in both pediatric and adult rehabilitation before dedicating her practice to pediatrics. In 1988, Christy enrolled in the Cincinnati Occupational Therapy Institute for a concentrated program of study in SI evaluation and treatment and completed her Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) certification. Since then, Christy has worked primarily with children ages three to nine years old who have a Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), but has also worked with infants, toddlers, adolescents and adults.
She has continued to broaden her professional knowledge by studying and incorporating supplemental approaches to the treatment of SI, such as nutrition, cranial sacral therapy, vision therapy and sound therapy. Specialized training in sound therapy has included SAMONAS, Therapeutic Listening, and The Listening Program (TLP). The more she learns, the more committed she becomes to supporting her clients holistically in order to see them reach their potential.
Christy has been in private practice in Decatur, GA for nearly her entire career. She has raised awareness about the SI component of pediatric occupational therapy in the Atlanta area by sponsoring conferences featuring world-renowned speakers.
Tinsley is a pediatric occupational therapist from Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Brenau University in 2017. Tinsley has a passion for working with children and uses a play-based approach with an emphasis on the development of sensory processing, self-regulation, motor and social skills. She believes that building strong relationships is foundational to supporting children to
become their best selves. Her goal for each child is to become resilient, confident, and joyful in their daily activities.
Tinsley has training in sensory integration,Therapeutic Listening, and Handwriting Without Tears and has worked in a variety of settings, including clinics, schools, and nature-based environments. Prior to entering private practice, she worked at the Atlanta Speech School in their Stepping Stones program, a multidisciplinary therapeutic preschool where she provided in-classroom support to three-year old and Kindergarten classrooms. This invaluable experience has provided
Tinsley with a strong background and understanding of how to support students and teachers.
Prior to the Atlanta Speech School, Tinsley worked at We Play Atlanta, a DIR/Floortime based clinic supporting children ages three to fourteen. Tinsley also had the privilege of working with the late Clay White in his outdoor therapeutic programs and believes that integrating nature into therapy facilitates opportunities for children to explore, challenge their bodies, and find meaning in their play. She also finds that parental involvement is integral to help children make progress and works closely with her client’s families to provide guidance and education.
